Our Mission
The Argentine foundation TITAF is dedicated to preserving the world heritage of Tango Argentino. Our main goal is the acquisition and professional management of still available shellac record collections. These records are catalogued in a MediaWiki-based database, photographed, cleaned, and safely stored in acid-free sleeves. For transfers, we use the same infrastructure as TangoTunes, with whom we have successfully collaborated for many years.

Our Difference from TangoTunes
While TangoTunes mainly focuses on orchestras that are played at milongas, TITAF is also dedicated to thousands of shellac records that are crucial for the development and significance of tango. Many of these recordings are rare, of poor quality, or hard to access. Among the treasures we preserve are:
- Troilo recordings on tk
- Ignacio Corsini transfers
- Women in tango from the 1920s such as Azucena Maizani, Tita Merello, Rosita Quiroga, Ada Falcón, Mercedes Simone, Libertad Lamarque, and Dorita Davis
- Recordings from the mechanical era (trumpet) by Canaro, Fresedo, Firpo
- Early recordings by Gobbi (father), Maglio Pacho, and many more

Current Projects
We are currently working on two major projects, click the links below to receive more details!
- The digitization of 98 recordings by Anibal Troilo on the tk label
- The preservation of about 220 recordings by Ignacio Corsini from the 1920s.

The Wiki
In addition to digitization, the foundation aims to provide a sustainable reference work based on a wiki in the most important languages. There are many great projects worldwide, like todotango.com, tango.info, tango-dj.at that promote interest and knowledge about tango. Our goal is to present this knowledge in a permanent, accessible form and to process it professionally and sustainably according to the principles of objectivity, legality, and copyright protection.
We have years of experience in setting up and running Wikis (Semantic MediaWiki), but we need support to fund the people who manage it.
Support Us
To achieve our goals, the foundation needs sponsors. You can become a Bronze, Silver, or Gold sponsor or specifically support a project. Your help is crucial to preserving the cultural heritage of Tango Argentino.
Why Do We Need Your Support?
- Acquisition of available shellac collections.
- Hiring individuals who can handle all activities related to the transfers.
